GreenStar Biogas – for high yield potential in biogas production

Exceptionally high yield and biogas potential
GreenStar Biogas combines exceptionally high yield potential with very high biogas potential. The tall fescue-dominated mixture impresses with its high productivity, winter hardiness and endurance, making it ideal for perennial substrate production on grassland areas.
New sowing for long-term substrate cultivation
GreenStar Biogas develops its full potential particularly in perennial grassland stands with a useful life of five years or more. The mixture is stable, can be cut 2 to 6 times and offers a flexible harvest window. Ideal for economical biogas cultivation over many years.
Robustness and adaptability
Thanks to its deep root system, GreenStar Biogas can cope with even difficult locations. The mixture can handle summer drought as well as temporary waterlogging. Tall fescue is considered a humus enhancer and, thanks to its root strength, actively contributes to improving soil structure and nutrient retention.
Establishment and maintenance
Due to its slower early development, attention must be paid to competition from weeds in the initial phase. A suction cut or the use of selective herbicides promote reliable establishment. A cutting height of at least 8 cm is important for rapid regrowth, after which the crop is extremely competitive and reliable in terms of yield.
High gas yields and optimum substrate quality
Due to the high proportion of hard-leaved tall fescue (approx. 90%), GreenStar Biogas achieves above-average dry matter and gas yields. The mixture provides structurally rich, fibre-rich material that enables very good substrate utilisation in the fermenter and thus contributes to an increase in methane yield.
